Marble Paper Workshop
Quickly recognized as a decorative surface design employed on book covers and endpapers in bookbinding, the paper marbling technique is also applied in travel cases, music sheets, furniture, fabrics and playing cards. From the Suminagashi technique, developed in the East, to the Ebru art from Turkey, the paper marbling was used by the great bookbinding masters, painters and art restorers as a restricted and highly technical art technique.
This workshop will be led by the artist Maria Sassetti, who after introducing the history of paper marbling, will practice this technique with the participants, by exploring marbling baths and paints, and preparing the materials and prints on paper and fabrics.
