Visual Artist, graduated in Painting by the Fine Arts Faculty of Lisbon in 2008 and with a master’s degree in Artistic Creation: Realism and Context by the Fine Arts Faculty of Barcelona in 2010.
Her work is mainly focused in the drawing and painting fields, by doing interventions in different types of paper, fabric and old objects that no longer serve its original function, basing her process in the relationship between the Subject, Object and Space connected by the concept of Memory.
In addition to her personal work, establishes co-author partnerships with other artists and institutions and is one of the founding members of Tempos de Vista, an art collective that, since 2008, has been looking for historical and sleepy places to give them new artistic perspectives by doing a profound research about the place, its context and memory. The site-specific curatorial projects developed by the Collective have been hosted by the Mãe d’Água das Amoreiras Reservoir, Astronomical Observatory of Lisbon, Carris Museum, Viarco Pencil Factory and Oliva Creative Factory at S.João da Madeira and have received the support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and the National Center of Culture.
In 2015, along with three other artists, Xana Sousa founded the Atelier Contencioso where she shares the workspace and the creation of artistic interventions being the one performed at Rio Maravilha and the Mamba de Jameson installation at the Pensão Amor building frontage.
