Nuno Vasa was born in Torres Vedras (Pt), in 1974.
He has a degree in sculpture from the School of Arts University of Coimbra (ARCA – UEAC). He completed his studies in London at the Chelsea College of Art & Design. In 2005 he obtained a scholarship from House Velázquez in Madrid, a city where he represented Portugal in ESTAMPA (2005), which was curated by João Lima Pinharanda.
In 2006 he exhibited at the Contemporary Portugal show, presented in the Gallery of Dawn (Lithuania). Among his major projects are “Home” (Col. IVAM –the Institute of Modern Art Valencia), “Kiss Me With Red Lips and I’ll Never Be the Same” (Casa de Velázquez, Madrid) or “Possible Dinner” (Odminiu Square, Vilnius – European Capital of Culture 2009). His work explores sculpture, video, installation, and recently, product design in which category he won the 1st prize at the Serralves Foundation for Portuguese Original Design (2012).
He is represented in many public and private collections: the Museum of Contemporary Arts of Elvas – the António Cachola Collection, the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Madrid (CA2M). In 2012 he was invited to represent Portugal in the IDB III – Ibero American Biennial of Design in the category of industrial design / product.
