Jorge Leal

Jorge Leal was born in Lisbon, in 1975, where e currently lives and works. Leal has a degree in Architecture, at Architecture of the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra (2000) and in 2002 he enrolled in a Painting courseat Ar.Co school. Currently, Jorge Leal is doing a PHD degree in Drawing at The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon.

During the last years the artist has been included in several collective shows, of which we can underline in 2009, Artistas Portugueses Lá Fora, curated by João Pinharanda, at the Electricity Museum, in Lisbon; in 2010, Memórias, curated by Ana Luísa Barão, at the Convento dos Frades, in Trancoso, Portugal; in 2012, Arte de Bolso Mod.2012, at galeria Sete, in Coimbra. Among the solo shown it can be selected in 2007, La Boca Plena De Pols, at the Distrito Quinto, in Barcelona; in 2010, Sachsenhausen, Um Domingo, at Sala do Cinzeiro 8, curated by João Pinharanda; and more recently in 2015, Without Drawing a Day is Lost, at Mute gallery, curated by Manuel Furtado dos Santos.

Jorge Leal artwork is present in many public collections, such as EDP Foundation, Obidos’ City Council, Ponte de Sor’s City Council, CENTA, Centre for Judicial Studies (CEJ), Quarteirão das Artes, and in numerous private collections in Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium and England.
